It is a great pleasure for me to welcome all the participants and guests of the 6th European Small Nations Team Championship 2019!
Chess federation of San Marino will be hosting such an important international chess event for the first time. It gives a new impulse to the cause of promotion chess as a mind sport not only in this country, but abroad. I am fully confident that this event will be a worthy continuation of chess traditions of San Marino!
The new cycle of the traditional ESNA tournament with biennial cadence was first organized in 2009 and hosted by the Andorran Chess Federation. In 2017 Andorra obtained the privilege to organize the 5th edition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Andorran Chess Federation.
I would like to thank the European Chess Union, the sponsors, journalists, volunteers and everyone who has contributed to the organization and preparation of this championship! I am confident that such cooperation will be instrumental in helping millions of those who love this royal game to open new possibilities of the chess development in the world.
I am looking forward to seeing you in San Marino and wishing all players and guests an enjoyable stay in one of the world’s oldest republics! I hope all participants will produce tremendous games and brilliant victories and will contribute a lot to make this championship an unforgettable event!
